Apple and Cinnamon Porridge

  • 1 cup Porridge
  • 2 cups milk 
  • 1 apple, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1-2 tablespoons brown sugar or maple syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts, dried fruits, a drizzle of honey


  1. In a medium saucepan, combine rolled oats and milk. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  2. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and add diced apple, brown sugar or maple syrup (if using), ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir well to combine.
  3. Simmer the porridge on low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes or until the oats are cooked and the mixture has thickened to your desired consistency.
  4. Remove from heat and let the porridge sit for a minute or two to cool slightly and thicken further.
  5. Serve the porridge warm, topped with your choice of chopped nuts, dried fruits, and a drizzle of honey if desired.
